Summer Programs
Maine Woods Explorers
Maine Woods Explorers inspires students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the environment, fostering a sense of stewardship needed to sustain natural resources for future generations. Through immersive, science-based education and outdoor recreation, participants connect with Maine’s rich natural heritage. Our hands-on programs combine challenging, enjoyable activities with nature-based learning, allowing students of all ages to explore and engage with the woods and waters around them. By cultivating respect for the environment, we equip participants with knowledge and skills to protect it for years to come.
Rock Climbing
Like to climb things? Then this is a chance to challenge yourself and practice teambuilding skills during rock climbing week. You will learn map & compass, basic rope skills, and how to tie knots before heading to Mt. Kineo and Little Yosemite or “Eagle Rock” to rock climb with Acadia Mountain Guides. This special camp is open to Middle School students from Tri-County Technical Center and its sending towns.
Outlet Program
Outlet is a new program, and its goal is to prepare teenagers for the challenges of the future, while also experiencing some epic adventures in the woods and on the water. High school-aged students will be empowered through immersive wilderness experiences in the North Woods to explore not only the woods and waters but their personal strengths. By navigating the woods and water trails of the Moosehead Lake Region, participants develop resilience, teamwork, and self-reliance.
Participants will camp, hike, go whitewater rafting, take a canoe trip, and packraft—these adventures will be a source of strength for personal growth and leadership. By mastering outdoor skills, campers will build a rugged foundation of grit and technical confidence. This week is an opportunity for growth, equipping high schoolers with the decisive action and autonomy needed to lead in any environment they encounter. At Outlet, we prove that if you can navigate the Moosehead wilderness, you can navigate anything. This program is limited to 12 campers and open to rising 9th-12th graders from Piscataquis County and Jackman.
