The Natural Resource Education Center at Moosehead (NREC) is teaming up with the Maine Winter Sports Center to bring a Youth Biathlon and Sports Training Camp to Greenville. Kids will learn what the sport of biathlon is all about: the physical challenge of endurance sport combined with the precision of shooting! This introductory biathlon camp is for youth ages 8-14. Participants will learn safety and technique with air rifles and archery, as well as spend time being active through games and on the wooded trails.
We want to encourage children from Greenville and the Piscataquis/Somerset County area to come participate in a terrific opportunity. NREC plans to establish a biathlon program later in February, after the basketball season, for interested youths in the region. This training camp will provide a great background to a sport that is becoming more popular throughout the world.
The program will take place at the NREC Visitors’ Center – Route 15- Greenville, ME
Thursday, November 5th 3-4:30pm
Friday, November 6th 3-4:30pm
Saturday, Nov. 7th from 9am-Noon
If you are traveling from out of town, it’s alright to be a little late on Thursday and Friday after school.
There is a $30 charge and participants must register online at:
www.skireg.com/youth-development-intro-biathlon-camp by October 29th! Scholarships are also available by contacting lauren@mainewsc.org.
This camp will also provide an opportunity to sign-up for and receive ski lease packages
for the ’15-’16 season! More information on the MWSC ski lease program can be found under ‘Equipment’ at: www.mainewsc.org/programs.
The snow will be flying soon so let’s get prepared to have some outdoor fun!
